Garden Furniture

We were out last night and saw some garden furniture..Husband says he wants wooden swing in the back yard. You know those antique looking wooden swing with big wooden wheel on the side. (oh I should have taken photos of it). Good thing that my mother has a friend who makes this kind of furniture. Have you been to Tiendesitas before? You can find there stores that sell different antique looking furniture, but I am not sure if all those are really antique and are made with an old wood. As for my my mom’s friend, we are assured that the wood they used are real old Mulawin wood (this are actually Mulawin roots).

Aside from the wooden swing, I also want to have a coffee table with chess board on it. It’s not for me (though it would serve its purpose as coffee table), this one would be for the boys. The thing about furniture made out of Mulawin is it can withstand any type of weather. This is the perfect garden furniture I believe but it can be really pricey (a bench costs 10000 Php or more)

Where to Shop For Kid’s Bedroom Furniture

I was browsing Walmart’s Kid’s Beds & Headboards section. You know my two older boys are not getting any younger. We need to prepare them to sleep on their rooms (OK that’s advance talking there, basically, they have their own room yet..) The first step is to provide them their own bed. Maybe a few months from now, we’ll have our own house (secreting.. secreting..) I am gearing towards bunk beds..

This kind of bed (image from walmart website) will teach them to be more organized with their things..it’s not the exact bed I have in mind, but you get the idea right? Bed on upper part, and drawers and table below. Cute beds like the photo below (image from toysrus) is not for their age anymore..

Now, I wonder where can I find this kind of bedroom furniture for the kids?

Counting Thread Count

Whenever I encounter bed linens, I see the word thread count, and I am totally clueless when it comes to thread count. So what is THREAD COUNT?

Based on my reading on different sites, thread count is the number of thread, horizontal and vertical per inch of a certain fabric. There are many factors that is included like the kind of thread used or the thickness of the thread used. When it comes to bed linens, the higher the thread count, the better. Why? because when there is more thread on a square inch of a thread, that means that the thread is finer which will result to a smoother fabric.

So when you buy a bed linen that has a thread count of 200 or more, expect a higher amount will reflect on barcode scanner, because as mentioned above, the higher the thread count, the softer, the better. So how many threads your linens have?

Types Of Woods For Furniture

People who value traditions prefer buying furniture that is made of wood and most of them look for wood wholesaler because they really love wood (and of course wholesale means lower price). Some buy wooden furniture for investment since it increases its value over generations. There are different kinds of wood that can be used for furniture; one of them is Mahogany wood. Mahogany’s strength makes it an excellent carving wood, its stability and resistance to decay makes the wood ideal for high-quality cabinetry and furniture. Oak wood on the other hand is the most commonly used for finer and more durable furniture. With no dents, blemishes and scrapes, oak wood furniture looks graceful even after decades of its use, it still shines like new. Rattan wood is another kind of wood that is commonly used for household furniture. A very pretty and durable style of summer-chairs, lounges, tables, baskets, etc., is now made wholly of rattan.

His And Her Closet

For years that me and hubby has been together, our closet is always about his clothes, less mine and more him. I am not a clothes or shoes or bags girl. When it comes to myself, I don’t indulge on anything. I am always happy seeing them happy. Always contented on buying things for them. But lately, I have been giving myself a “me” time. Buying clothes for me, buying shoes and buying girly stuffs for me. It’s about time eh? Actually not. I am doing this for my youngest baby, my baby girl. My soon to be apprentice. I wanna be the most fasyon mom she can ever have and so I have been scouting shoes that are nice and with style, like the apple bottom sandals. So yes, our closet will be his and her closet from now on. Or maybe, I should buy another closet for me?
