First Time Home Owner Shopping Haven: Japan Home Centre

Because a first time home- owner bought a lot of brand new big stuff for their home, they tend to forget the small things. And by the time they realized they need this and that, they already run out of “house money”to spend to.

And that’s how we are for the first few days after moving here. Argh! We forgot to buy walis! How about the dustpan? Or new hangers? errrr how about coffee jars? Ubos na budget ko for a trip to Crate&Barrel (how I wish hahaha)

Then we found Japan Home Centre…

Products ranges from 66 Pesos, 88 Pesos, 188 Pesos and 288 Pesos.

Imagine a USB cable for charging for only 88 Pesos. And it works really well, unlike the one you can buy from CDRking.

Curtain rod for only 66 Pesos! It’s really cheap and the quality is nice too.

Big jar is 88 Pesos, small jar is 66 Pesos while the salt and pepper container is also 88 pesos. The Izumi soy sauce and oil container is also 88 Pesos (includes 2).

See how cheap the tabo is? Yep! 2 pcs for  only 88 Pesos.

We bought a lot of things for our home at Japan Home Centre and so far everything is still in good condition. I also bought hangers there and a few containers.

We’ll be back for more! We really enjoy shopping at Japan Home Centre.

Play Room

We have two bedrooms, one is our room, the kids still don’t have their own bedroom that’s why the other room became a storeroom. This June I’m planning to transform the storeroom into a play room, organizing all of their toys and putting it into a room will help them become more responsible. My two big boys will teach Sati and Chico to play neatly. A play room will encourage the kids also to share with their siblings and work together through building blocks. Having a play room is like having an outdoor fire places, both have the same objective, to be more bonded with each other. I’ll turn their old Mega Bloks into a cabinet for their little toys like Hotwheels and Mega Bloks Mini in that way I don’t need to buy extra boxes and cabinets.

Coupons And Savings

It’s no secret that I always look for sale, discounts and coupons. Being a mother of four kids, I always look for buying option that will give me a lot of savings.

Lately, I have been spending some time on websites that offer discounts. I was able to buy a hair treatment at 70% off. I bought 3 coupons, one for me and two for my sisters. And then early this week, I bought 2 food coupons for a Kapampangan resto at 50% off.  I’m planning to buy coupon for a massage theraphy. It’s a good stress buster and a good way to spend time with my husband. If there would be a coupon for an online degree programs, I’m sure a lot of moms would be interested.

Another offer that’s selling like hotcakes are travel coupons.

GM #4: The PMC Eco Bag

I was not able to join last.. was really tired from what a recent sad event in our family. And this week, I’m late. What kind of participant am I?

Anyways, my entry for this week is the eco bag I gave out last PMC Grand EB. There was a suggestion to bring a token for the moms attending the event. The moment I learned about it, I already what I will give to my fellow PMC member. An eco bag of course. Being aware of the impact of plastic in our environment, we decided to stop using plastic or to shy away from it as much as possible. After a few weeks of trying to avoid it, we are not 90% plastic free. But we know it does not end there, we need to do more to help save the planet. Giving out eco bag is our way of bringing awareness to the people, of encouraging them to bring their own bag instead of using plastic bags.

I hope that PMC members, being influential bloggers, will also help in spreading the news and the habit of bringing their own bag. And I hope they will wear the PMC eco bag proudly.

Practical Tips On Water Conservation

Water is one of the fastest depleting natural resources due to misuse. I know what it is like to have no water in the faucet that is why I try to save water as much as I can. Water is also important on how to get rid of pimples as facial washing is very important in getting rid of pimples. There was a time when I  was not able to wash my face because we had no water supply, the next day, I see small reddish bumps on my face. You too should also take part in conserving water by following these tips.

• Schedule your laundry day. Washing your clothes twice a week compared to everyday will surely save not only water but also electricity, energy and soap.

• Use a basin when washing the dishes by hand. Do not keep the water running when rinsing.

• Use doing your laundry, do not throw away your rinse water as this can be used again perhaps to clean your car.

• Consider cutting your bath time by one or two minutes.

• Watering the plants when the sun is not yet high consumes less water.

• When washing your hand, turn off the faucet as you lather.

• Monitor your water bill. When it becomes unusally high, consider checking for leaks.

• If you have more than one child, consider bathing them at the same time.

• When you go out of town and stay in a hotel, reuse your towel.

• Considering getting appliances that has efficient water consumption.

• Set up a drum to catch rain fall which you can use to flush toilet.

• Ensure that all faucets are tightly closed when not in use.

• Share what you do to conserve water with your friends and community.
