Meralco Appliance Calculator

The Meralco Appliance Calculator is designed to become the electricity bill management tool of Meralco residential costumers to help them:

  • Better manage their electric consumption and their electric bill.
  • Make wiser decision in buying home appliances.
  • Get home energy efficient tips that are customized to their home electricity consumption.

“My Appliance Calculator” allows the user to calculate the estimated consumption cost of appliances – one at a time.

“My Bill Manager”, on the other hand, allows the user to calculate the estimated consumption cost of appliances in a table format. It allows the user to get an estimate of the household’s total electric consumption cost and see which appliances consume more electricity.

Other features of the “My Bill Manager” menu include: consumption manager, energy efficiency adviser and target bill amount estimator. Consumption manager allows the user to see the corresponding electric consumption pie chart and some text description of the chart based on the information provided by the user. The energy efficiency adviser, meanwhile, allows user to see some energy efficiency tips based on the information provided by the user. The target bill amount estimator, on the other hand, allows the user to see an estimate of his “monthly target kWh consumption” and “estimated price per kWh” by just inputting the “target electric bill
amount”.

Other new features of the M.A.C include:

  • e-mailing of the M.A.C web link to friends through the “email” button;
  • sharing the M.A.C web link to Facebook and Twitter accounts through the “share” button;
  • sending feedback to Meralco regarding the new M.A.C through the “feedback” button;
  • printing the computation results of “My Bill Manager” through the “print” button (for easy access and future reference of the computations), and;
  • viewing the basis for computing the estimated electricity consumption of home appliances for the M.A.C application through the “formula” button (so that users can validate the results of the computations).

Water Update

The man who cut our service yesterday came back today and reconnect it. Apparently, they just put a tiny round plastic to stop the water from the main pipe (I was about to type tube LOL). It took him less than 5 minutes to reconnect it. So I asked the man, if that plastic round thing is the one that cost us $10. And he said no, it us not paying on time. I am, I know. But I am not that rude all the time. I remember once when someone knocked on our door to discuss about cheap insurance. I let them in and listened to what they have to say. But the one who cut our service was different, he was really rude to start with. Imagine he even asked if we have water supply when in fact he was the one who cut it the other day. How dumb can he be?

So you think I will let this pass. I even told him that I know now the reason why they charge us so high for reconnection fee, because the tools they use are all brand new and stainless steel.

I will never let this happen again.

Memory Loss

How forgetful can we be? Last month we did not pay our water bill because we can’t find the bill. Then this month in our bill it says that we have to pay the months consumption in order to prevent them form the cutting their service with us. My bad, since I was busy researching for medical coding training courses for a friend, it slip my mind. It so happens that we should pay our bill on the 14th to prevent them from cutting the service. SO the next day, April 15, when we got back from Paula’s birthday party, we were shocked to learned that they cut our water service. Oh my!

Immediately we paid our bill and yeah we have to pay for their reconnection fee which is $10. Hubby called their service center and he was furious to learned that it will take them 5 days to reconnect our service. Oh yes, we paid $10 to wait for 5 days.

How Is Your Meralco Bill?

I posted about Meralco, that’s when I hadn’t seen our bill yet, and now.. it’s freaking scary! Although we used more kilowatts, the increase on our bill is unbelievable. From 6,ooo Php last month, it is 7k plus this month and we only upped our usage by 10 or 20 kw. How about your Meralco bill? Have you noticed that every summer, our electricity bill is greater. Aside from more electricity use because of heat and because most of the family members are at home, electric companies tend to increase their rate at this time too. Do you think they are using summer as an opportunity to earn more?

What made this situation more worse is the fact that we are having rotating brownouts. Darn.. Meralco is killing us twice.
