The Flood Proof Home

Philippines, specially Metro Manila, is once again hit by a flood. What is surprising about the flood that hit the Metro last August was the fact that there was no storm signal, it was only Habagat rains! I guess that is one of the reason why PAG ASA now creates a new gauge in terms of rain, aside from the storm signals, they also now have gauge for rain drops. Let’s not talk about that, but more on how to make your house flood proof.

I know it will never be 100% flood proof, specially if you live in a flood risk area. What I am trying to tell is what to do to make it easier for you post flooding.

Start it by de cluttering your house. Less clutter, less mess after the flood. Throw away papers and other stuff that you no longer use, if you are into recycling, sell it or bring those to junk shops.

If you do have a second floor, keep your house tidy by storing things that you don’t usually use on the second floor. Things such as your whole set of dinnerware that only used during parties or shoes that are only worn one or twice a month. Only leave things that you use on a daily basis.

Make a flood plan. When the water starts to rise, you’d be alarmed and end up losing all your important stuff on flood. Plan ahead, what needs to be placed on a safe place. Having a plan prevents you from panicking.

Yes, we cannot be flood proof 100% but we can always be flood prepared 100%.

Magnus Coffee

If there is Magnum ice cream, there is Magnus cofee. I think it’s a dark chocolate ice cream. I did not bought a bar though.

We went at Shopwise again after I was done reading some d’addario exl110w reviews. I saw the Magnus chocolate and thought of Magnum ice cream haha. I wish I bought a bar though so I can share with you how it taste.

Number Chart

I made a number chart for the kids. It was very easy as I did not draw the image this time. You know how busy I am doing background check services to some of my clients and because of that I have little time to draw. What I did was print some art corks and just paste it on the illustration board then used crayons to color the images.

Rainy Season Protection

Rainy season is here again and what better way to protect your kids to mosquitoes, but to buy an insect repellent!
I think I had 3 o4 bottles. I apply it to the kids every 3-4 hours and also uses it to myself. Working and my legs being under the table, it is exposed to mosquitoes. So while reading about white gold miraculous medal my legs are protected with insect repellant.

Kid’s Furniture Shopping

I was looking for a study table for my boys and for my two toddlers (which I will be homeschooling) and I canot help but marvel at the kid’s furniture that I have seen. Frankly, if I have the money and the space, I will be buying a lot furniture and bunk bed will be on my priority list. It never fails to leave me in awe, specially the space that bunk beds can save, And for a mom with 4 kids, bunk beds seem to be a heaven sent. I specially like bunk bed that offers personal space such as the ones I have seen at Walmart:

It does not only serve as a bed but also as a place to store their stuff as well as a place to study. If ever we will be having our own house soon, this bunk bed will be on our must buy list.

Here’s another one that made it to my wish list:

With 3 boys and one baby girl, I really need to plan their bedroom and be wiser in buying kid’s furniture. Good thing that, compare to years ago, there are more choices when it comes to kid furniture.
