Dream House

We want our future house to have a big lawn. A place where the kids can play, run wild and just be kids. Also a place where we can relax, a concrete patio design that will makes us feel we are on a hotel or on a posh resort. I want a dinning room with a sliding door that leads to a patio. This is the place where we can have coffee while watching the kids have fun. The kids can go swimming in an inflatable pool on the lawn. A Cobonpue like furniture can grace our patio. We can even add a hot tub on the other side of the backyard. We can make it our couples corner. We will give it a nature feel, like the one you see in spa and the likes. If ever this will come in reality (the house design, the backyard and all), we would be the happiest family.

Insurance For Renters

We have been renting out for more 7 years already. We have rented 3 different homes, a few months on our first, almost 3 years on our second and 4 years on our third, which is the one we are currently living. Last September 2009, something happened to our home. OK not just our home but the whole Metro Manila. The city was submerged to flood for days. Just imagine the damaged it did to the house and some of our appliances we were not able to save. Lucky for those who own their houses, they got insurance to pay for the damage For us who are just renting, we have no choice but to shoulder it. I wonder why we don’t have home renters insurance here in the country. A simple insurance where in the possessions of the renter is insured can do a lot of good to us. That would be a lot cheaper than the usual house insurance.

Window And Curtains

We just replaced our bedroom’s air conditioning unit. It malfunctioned a few weeks ago but since January’s temperature is still low, we opted not to have it repaired. It was scheduled to be repaired last week but upon seeing our electric bill, we decided on buying a new one. And this one, we bought a unit with higher horse power, but the same brand. Our room has become more conducive for resting and sleeping, the new air conditioner unit is a lot colder and my newly installed blinds and shutters makes the room look dim. Blinds do give a room a character. It can make a boring room to a sunny and lively one. Just as it did to our room, from a bright room, it now looks cozy and very relaxing. Aside from that, it also prevents the sun rays form entering the room. It made our afternoon naps a lot longer.

Bahay Kubo Lyrics

This post is for my boys who is trying to learn Bahay Kubo. This song is the famous children’s Tagalog song. It is just right and proper that all Filipino kids learn to sing this song:

Bahay kubo, kahit munti
Ang halaman doon, ay sari sari
Sinkamas at talong, sigarilyas at mani
Sitaw, bataw, patani.

Kundol, patola, upo’t kalabasa
At saka mayroon pang labanos, mustasa,
Sibuyas, kamatis, bawang at luya
Sa paligid-ligid ay puno ng linga.

We used to live in Bahay Kubo or Nipa House. Although colder, there is always the roofing problem. BUt in the near future, I will ask my husband to build a small Nipa House for the kids to play.
